Counseling for Anxiety

Do you frequently feel overwhelmed and stressed? Do you struggle to focus or concentrate? Or feel stuck and like you don’t know where to start? Do you find yourself up at night feeling anxious and thinking nothing will get better?

Do you feel worried about everything and everyone? And often put yourself on the back burner to please others? Do you find yourself feeling nervous and thinking people will judge you or be angry with you if you don’t meet their expectations or make them happy? Anxiety can cause racing thoughts and life can feel chaotic. Do you find yourself wishing you could have peace, slow down your mind, relax your body, and prioritize yourself before caring for everyone else?

You may feel isolated and alone in your struggle with anxiety. The symptoms you’re experiencing are a normal part of anxiety. Many people feel trapped in their struggle and like there is no way out. Considering taking that first step to reach out for help can be really difficult and scary. Just know I am familiar with your experience, have assisted others in their healing process and would consider it an honor to help you during this difficult time. You do not have to fight this battle alone.

Helping You Take Back Control
Using practical tools and proven processing techniques, I want to help you take back control of your mind and body. Anchored in Hope Counseling Services wants to help you to not allow anxiety to steal another minute.

Providing Practical Solutions
If you are experiencing anxiety, I understand you need useful solutions – quickly. At Anchored in Hope Counseling Services, I encourage you not to wait for relief from your pain. These practical solutions often include:

  • After I’ve assessed your anxiety, I provide you with information about anxiety to help you understand and identify what you are experiencing
  • Next, I give you practical tools to help calm down during times of panic or feeling overwhelmed.
  • Then, we work to identify and process your anxiety by discovering the root. As your therapist, I use multiple tools to help with this process including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), both of which are widely used, research-based models designed to help you experience freedom from emotional pain.

Experiencing Obstacles to Participating in Therapy?
Sometimes certain obstacles or challenges in life can get in the way of participating in therapy. Does the cost for therapy stand in your way?

I encourage you, you are worth investing in. Also, I do offer a sliding scale and am happy to discuss this with you further. With your busy schedule, juggling work, family, and other responsibilities, does the time to do therapy feel like a challenge?

I know life can be busy and your schedule may be full, however I encourage clients to look at making time for therapy as a way they are prioritizing and caring for themselves. You are worth investing your time in. You will be sacrificing time now for a better future. And, I mean, can you imagine one with more of a sense of calm, better ways to manage stress and feeling more confident to do so?

Do you find it challenging to fit therapy into your schedule?

Many people find telehealth counseling easier to accommodate into their routine. You can meet from the comfort of your own environment and save on travel time to and from appointments.

Obstacles are real and valid however they can be overcome. Don’t let these stop you from a more fulfilling, enjoyable, purpose-filled future. Finding peace and confident to achieve your goals is possible.

Anchored in Hope Counseling Services offers a safe place to understand and work though anxiety. I have over 12 years of experience in a wide range of settings, including residential, nonprofit counseling center, community corrections and in orphan care centers located in Swaziland, Africa. I also have both personal and professional experience with anxiety. This helps me understand and more effectively work with clients. I have had the privilege of helping many people with managing and overcoming anxiety.

Starting out in the chemical dependency counseling field, I worked as a counselor in a residential drug treatment program housed in a jail. It was there I first started to see the negative impacts mental health issues can have on individuals’ quality of life along with the profound and damaging effects of traumatic experiences, especially those negative experiences from childhood. Trauma can cause such far-reaching consequences and affect key areas including one’s sense of safety, ability to trust themselves and others, self-esteem, sense of power and control, and relationships with others. Seeing healing and transformation take place in individuals’ lives is one of my greatest joys and highest honors in life.

Sometimes, there is a connection between these earlier traumatic experiences and anxiety experienced today. Therapy can help you discover that link and work to resolve it so you can live free from the past and move with confidence into the future.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental place to share, do this therapy work together and recover. Healing and freedom from the past is possible. There is hope for the future.
